The newest track for the new AusDisciples Band instrumental album, “Hidden Gems | Instrumental Journeys,” has just been uploaded. This one is called, “Under the Fig Tree,” and is based upon the last five verses of John chapter one.

As with all AusDisciples Band music, this song is free to download from the AusDisciples Band page.

In the following verses, we see a man named Nathanael who recognized Jesus as the promised Messiah. It is commonly understood that many of the Jews would spend time contemplating the scriptures and praying under fig trees in private. When Jesus mentions to Nathanael that He saw him under the fig tree, Nathanael would’ve known that, being a private place of contemplation, the only way Jesus could have seen him there was if He was indeed the Son of God and was hearing his prayers and seeing his actions.

This song is one of contemplation. It is a snapshot of Nathanael in his place under that fig tree before his encounter with our Messiah, Jesus Christ.

John 1:47 – 51 (ERV)
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said, “This man coming is a true Israelite, one you can trust.” Nathanael asked, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered, “I saw you when you were under the fig tree, before Philip told you about me.” Then Nathanael said, “Teacher, you are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel.” Jesus said to him, “Do you believe this just because I said I saw you under the fig tree? You will see much greater things than that!” Then he said, “Believe me when I say that you will all see heaven open. You will see ‘angels of God going up and coming down’ on the Son of Man.
